National Maritime Foundation establishes first ‘beach head’
The Chennai Chapter of the Foundation went on stream on Tuesday, 01Sept,
with Commodore (Retd) S Shekhar assuming charge as the Coordinator of
the Chapter.
Cmde Shekhar is the Founder Secretary of the Chennai Chapter of the
National Defence College Alumni Association, and the current President
of the Chennai Charter of the Navy Foundation .
The NMF Chennai Chapter will be formally inaugurated later this year by
the Chairman of the Foundation.
The inaugural envisages the convening of a national seminar on “National
Maritime Power – some crucial determinants ”
The Chennai Chapter would in the first instance, be focusing on the
following aspects of interest to the maritime fraternity:
Strategy and Policy
Science and Technology
Commerce and Industry
Maritime heritage
The Chennai Chapter would be conducting monthly Round table discussions
on each of the above aspects, leading to the initiation of more detailed
study on issues highlighted during the discussions.
