Admiral AK Chatterji Fellowship
National Maritime Foundation announces the Admiral AK Chatterji Fellowship. The Fellowship is instituted in the memory of Late Admiral AK Chatterji, former Chief of Naval Staff, to facilitate and encourage research on maritime issues with an aim to further India’s maritime interests and to inculcate a greater awareness about maritime issues among the youth.
Fellowship will be offered to serving naval officers/young academics for a period of 18 months. For the first two Fellowships, a serving officer will be paid a grant of Rs. 25,000 every quarter while all the other (young academics) will be paid a stipend of Rs. 10,000 per month.
Candidates preferably should be less than 40 years of age. Serving naval officer/academic with post graduation in Defence Studies/ International Relations with an academic bent of mind and a good understanding of Maritime Issues are eligible to apply. Selected candidate should be willing to undertake research under NMF supervision for 18 months.
Applicants are required to submit their proposals along with a brief synopsis in 1500-2000 words to NMF by August 31, 2010. Five candidates will be short listed on the basis of the proposal and synopsis and final selection will be made after an interview at NMF, New Delhi in October. Final results will be announced in November.
