Cdr Kamlesh Kumar Agnihotri
Commander Kamlesh Kumar Agnihotri is a Research Fellow at the China cell of the National Maritime Foundation. Prior to this appointment, he was working in the China Desk at the Army Headquarters, New Delhi, where he gained extensive and first hand insight on China, its armed forces particularly its army, and the complex nature of Sino-Indian relations. He has also qualified as a Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry expert and has been extensively involved with the imagery related TECHINT analysis and assessment.
He was commissioned into the Indian Navy in January 1986 and is a qualified missile and gunnery specialist. He has several years of experience in various fleet ships and has participated in many security operations and overseas deployments. He commanded a ship at the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. His service also includes varied appointments in operational, training and staff appointments.
He has co-edited a book titled ‘Security Challenges Along the Indian Ocean Littoral: Indian and US Perspectives’ with C Uday Bhaskar and also contributed a chapter in therein. He has authored several articles and commentaries and extensively presented papers in India and abroad, on security issues related to China. He is currently engaged in learning the Chinese language also, in addition to his research work.
